Don’t forget that your response to the question posed on Tuesday is due tomorrow, Friday Nov. 21, 2008. for those of you that forgot, the response is to the following issue described in the Worcester Telegram and Gazette over the last month.
“The Worcester Police Dept. has not responded to a Freedom of Information Act Request by the Telegram and Gazette. Research the issue and and take a position whether or not you believe the police chief is justified in his position or should he be forced to respond. Use information from the four articles in the T&G (2 items and 2 Opinion pieces) to support your stance.

hello. i think that the police chief is justified to keep information secret. there is certain information that needs to be kept enclosed. in this situation if the police chief believes that the information should be kept private then i believe he has every right to. I dont think he should be forced to reveal any information without him thinking fully about what he is going to release.

it is my opinion (this is barry just in case you missed that) that police should simply act “by the book” if it says the public is to be granted access to police records they should be provided with such information. the job of police is to enforce laws it is there responsibility to lead by example and follow the law. Although this particular case may not be the end of the world the law should be followed word for word and the public should be provided with the desired information if it is not in violation of any other law.
